Layered Salad

 1 head of lettuce, chopped
 1 cup onions, chopped
 1 cup celery, chopped
 1 (10 oz) box of frozen peas
 1 cup water chestnuts, chopped
 1 (16 oz) jar Hellman’s mayonnaise
 1 tbsp sugar
 4 boiled eggs
 2 tomatoes, diced or edged
 bacon bits


In a 9×13 inch pan or large dish, layer in this order: lettuce, onions, celery, frozen peas, and water chestnuts. Spread mayonnaise on top of mixture evenly, then sprinkle sugar on top. Slice eggs and place on top, then add tomatoes and desired amount of bacon bits. Chill, then serve. For best results, chill overnight.
